Backlash to the Alberta separation referendum helped the NDP win Calgary-Shaw by 582 votes, five weeks before the Oct. 19 independence vote.
The Calgary-Shaw byelection went to the Alberta NDP’s Kyle Campbell over UCP candidate Mike Derry, with an official count scheduled for Sept. 24.
