Editorial Standards

Brand Magazine is a Canadian business magazine based in Calgary, Alberta. We profile brand builders, entrepreneurs and market makers, and we cover business, markets and policy news that matters to them. These standards describe how we work and what readers can expect from us.

Accuracy and sourcing

  • We base reporting on primary sources wherever possible: company releases and filings, government and regulator publications, court records, and on-the-record interviews.
  • We attribute facts, figures and quotes to their source, and we link to that source when it is published online.
  • We do not publish information we cannot trace to a credible source.

Who writes for us

  • Staff and contributing writers write features, profiles and cover stories under their own bylines.
  • Guest contributors and Industry Voices are business leaders writing in their own name. Their opinions are their own and do not necessarily reflect the views of Brand Magazine.
  • Brand Magazine Newsroom is the byline for short news reports produced with AI-assisted tools. See our AI Use Policy.

Independence, advertising and sponsored content

  • Advertising, sponsorships and paid partnerships are handled separately from editorial decisions.
  • Paid or sponsored content is clearly labelled as such.
  • Being featured in a Brand Magazine story, list or award, including the Brand 100, cannot be bought.

Opinion and analysis

Opinion, commentary and guest columns are labelled so readers can tell them apart from news reporting.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. See our Corrections Policy.
