What if your IT company didn’t just fi x problems but spoke your language?

Most IT companies focus on tech, but Daniel Mitchell focuses on people.

As CEO and founder of Alt-Tech, he understands that cybersecurity isn’t just about fi rewalls and fancy tools: it’s about trust, clarity and helping clients understand the technology they rely on.

Daniel’s career in technology began in 2001 as a civilian member of the RCMP, where he received advanced training in communications security and digital forensics. His contributions to Major Case Management Electronic Investigations earned him the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, recognizing his role in advancing cybersecurity for public safety. Later, he was among just seven Canadians selected to train at Microsoft University in Seattle, further solidifying his expertise in IT infrastructure and security. Additionally, Daniel pursued executive education at Harvard, expanding his leadership and business strategy expertise to complement his deep technical background. What started in 2006 as a passion project has evolved into a top-tier Managed Services Provider (MSP), recognized as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed IT Companies and Channel Futures MSP 501’s highest-ranked Canadian MSP. A key part of this success is Daniel’s focus on brand, building a consistent and unifi ed voice across every communication.

“He understands that part of his rapid growth is from establishing clear, consistent messaging and language, ensuring that everyone in the company is on the same page and speaks with one unifi ed voice,” says Kieran Boggs, Branding Specialist at Cerco Creative Marketing. By prioritizing brand consistency, even going so far as to audit calls and emails to ensure it, Daniel has created a company culture that not only protects businesses but also builds lasting relationships based on clear, human fi rst communication.

Alt-Tech is all about making technology work for businesses, not just securing systems but also optimizing them to help companies thrive. As a former RCMP cybersecurity expert, Daniel brings a law enforcement mindset to digital security that is proactive, disciplined and focused on tackling real world threats. Who wouldn’t trust someone with that kind of expertise in control of their cybersecurity?

What really sets Alt-Tech apart, though, is how Daniel has simplified the complexity of IT. Instead of overwhelming clients with technical jargon, he has fostered a culture where technology is presented in clear and straightforward terms, empowering clients to act and secure their systems with confidence. He believes that technology should empower businesses, not burden them and has built Alt-Tech around this philosophy.

This human first approach has earned Alt-Tech significant industry recognition, including being named one of the 2025 Consumer Choice Award winners for the Edmonton and Northern Alberta area and the 2024 Channel Futures MSP 501’s topranked Canadian MSP.

“Technology should be an asset, not an obstacle. Our mission is to ensure businesses can operate securely, efficiently and with complete confidence in their IT.”

Daniel’s commitment to clarity and consistency is championed by Alt-Tech’s leadership team, especially Carrie Green, Senior Vice President of Operations and Michelle Mitchell, Office Manager. Carrie ensures that the company’s operational strategies align with its brand messaging, keeping Daniel’s vision front and center in everything the company does. Michelle plays a key role in making sure internal communication stays on point, ensuring that the language and tone are applied consistently at all levels.

Their ability to reinforce AltTech’s human first tone, which focuses on trust, collaboration and accessibility, helps foster strong relationships with clients. Through their leadership, Alt-Tech is not only creating lasting connections but also building a brand identity that stands out in the IT industry: one rooted in clarity, trust and a shared commitment to success.

Beyond his leadership at Alt-Tech, Daniel is a mentor, speaker and trusted advisor in the cybersecurity and IT community. He frequently speaks at security seminars and business events, educating organizations on the latest threats and best practices for securing their digital assets. He has also guided and developed a highly skilled team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and client-first service.

“We’re not trying to grow too fast. We just want to do good work with good companies, to do what’s right for clients.”

When he’s not shaping the future of cybersecurity and IT strategy, Daniel enjoys traveling with his wife, Alicia and their two children. A poker enthusiast and collector of fine whiskey and bourbons, he values both the thrill of the game and the craftsmanship behind a well-made spirit.

Daniel’s leadership continues to drive Alt-Tech forward, ensuring businesses receive not just IT support, but a strategic partner in their success.
